December 2006 OAS received an unrestricted grant of $50,000 from Baxter Healthcare. Baxter is the world's leader in the manufacture of intravenous systems. This generous educational support was facilitated byGreg Foster and his development team at Halozyme. Greg has been working with human recombinant hyaluronidase (Hylenex) for several years. He and Jonathan Lim formed Halozyme to commercialize the Board three product and explore its uses throughout the body. OAS President, Dr. Scott Greenbaum, joined their Scientific Advisory three years ago. Baxter distributes Hylenex and the other forms of recombinant hyaluronidase. Now that Baxter has focused on ophthalmic anesthesia, it has partnered with OAS. OAS members may be asked to assess the usefulness of this enzyme in clinical practice.
